Dwarfs...

My boys and I spent some time at my parent's house helping them clean out their basement. We found some things that belonged to me (that have been there for 10+ years!). Among my "treasures" was the pin set pictured below.

When we got home, Aiden lovingly pulled out each pin one at a time, polished it and then returned it to it's rightful spot. When he was finished he held the set up for me to examine and admire. Then he asked, "Mom, which one of these dumps is your favorite?" :) LOL!! I prefer Dumpy, of course! Ha ha

The eye of the beholder

My niece, Jordyn has a dry-erase board on her wall that all the kids love to draw on whenever they visit. My boys are no exception. One night after arriving home from a visit to their house, I received a text from Jordyn accompanied by the following picture of Aiden's drawing from earlier...

Ummm... "What is it, I wondered?" Jordyn followed it up with this:

Yes, I laughed OUT LOUD!

The next morning I showed Aiden the picture of his drawing and asked, "What is it?" He informed me, "It's a bone-shaped dog house with a window." Well, of course it is! ;)

Bulking up

We went sledding today on our snow day! It was fun, but also V.E.R.Y. cold! When we got home the boys bathed and got into clean, dry clothes. In order to get warm, Chase put on not 1, not 3, not 5 shirts... He went with 10! Crazy boy! It made him sweat so much he needed another bath! lol

A dog's life

We got a dog for Christmas. Aiden L.O.V.E.S. the little guy to death... Or he might if we didn't constantly remind him to be more gentle, or let the dog be free for a little while. There isn't much Aiden likes more that this puppy. Imagine my surprise, then, when Aiden exclaimed, "I sure am glad I'm not a dog, Mom." I started thinking, "I don't know, a dog's life seems pretty simple and easy to me". But instead of sharing MY opinion, I asked Aiden, "Why are you so glad you're not a dog?" He leaned in close and whispered, "Because then we'd have to lick our penis'!" Now that you mention it, I'm certainly glad you're not a dog either, Aiden!

"Girl stuff" in a house of boys... a lot of TMI!

Before recording the story I'm writing about today, I will first share a previous "girl stuff" experience.

I promised my boys we would go swimming one day, but mother nature paid a visit on that very day. Not comfortable with being in the pool at the time, I informed the boys we would have to go a different day. They couldn't believe/ understand why I would break a promise. I tried the best I could to explain in a way that they would forgive me without too.much.information. (After all, they're only 7... and boys) Our conversation went like this:

Me: Once a month girls' bodies clean themselves out. Our bodies get rid of stuff we don't need anymore. Since that includes blood, I really am not comfortable going to the pool today.

Aiden: You mean girls recycle?! ;)

So, now you know. Girls are naturally "green"! Go us! ;)

Fast forward to the other day...

Aiden found a tampon (it wasn't used or anything... still in it's wrapper and everything!). He asked, "What in the heck is this thing?"

I nonchalantly responded, "A tampon." and went about what I was doing. (Hoping that was the end of the conversation. If you know my curious boys, you know it was futile a hope!)

Aiden then said, "By the way, what the heck is a tampon?"

I said, "It's for girls to use when they're 'recycling'. It soaks up some of the blood and fluid they're getting rid of."

Aiden (a little shocked and incredulous) asked, "You have to SWALLOW this thing?!" Ha ha! Thankfully, no, but who wants to explain to him how you use it instead?!
